Organizational Policies

Dance Class Registration Policies
  • Dancers under age 18 must have a parent or guardian to register for their teen classes.

  • Adult Dancers must be age 18 and older to sign up for adult dance classes.

  • There is no registration fee required to be paid when signing up for dance classes.

  • Group Classes must have 3-10 students enrolled in these classes.

  • Private Classes must have 1 or 2 students enrolled in these classes.

  • Dancers can be put on the waitlist and we will add them to the classes if spots in any classes are available.

  • No dance class registrations are accepted after October, January, or June 2nd.

Payment Policies
  • Dancers can pay for classes in cash, credit, PayPal, or prepaid payments, or purchase a class card.

  • Drop-in-Class and Full Season Payments are due the same day they sign up for classes.

  • Monthly Payments are due every 2nd of each month.

  • Weekly Payments are due every week, no later than Saturday midnight.

  • Dancers must make payments to "Adult Jazz & Groove Dance Organization." 

  • A $15 late fee charge is added to late payments that are paid after payment deadlines.

  • Registrations will be canceled if no payments are received 10 days after the payment deadlines.

  • Dancers cannot participate in anymore classes or re-register for classes when registration is canceled.

  • They also cannot receive a refund when their registration is canceled.

  • No refunds are given to anyone after November, May, and July 15th.

  • Dancers are only going to get the current month's refund. For example, if they pay $120 for classes that month, they will receive only $120 in refund money.

 Attendance Policies
Health Policies
  • Everyone must stay home if they are sick with a cold or the flu.

  • They must attend virtual classes until they recover from any illness.

  • No one can dance with injured body parts for safety reasons.

  • They are required to bring a valid doctor's document that indicates it is safe for them to return to classes at the studio. 

 

Safety Policies
  • Crimes such as stalking behaviors, threats, or violence against anyone are unacceptable in classes in the organization.

  • The staff is not responsible for deaths, illnesses, or injuries during classes.

  • The staff will contact 911 emergency and the victims' families about hazardous events in classes or other places.

  • Classes will be canceled until further notice in the event of hazardous situations in our dance organization.

  • Everyone leaves the studio together for safety reasons.

 

Code of Conduct Policies
  • Everyone must respect each other regardless of each other's backgrounds and views on various situations.

  • They are expected to attend classes with a positive attitude and be prepared to do dance activities.

  • They must report any issues with individuals or items to the staff by email, phone, or in person at the studio.

  • All conflicts will be resolved in a professional manner that is fair for everyone.

  • Unprofessional Relationships between staff and parents or students are not allowed at our dance organization.

  • Unprofessional Relationships between students are not allowed at our dance organization.

  • Unprofessional Relationships between staff and staff are not allowed at our dance organization

 

Class Attendance Policies
  • The studio will be closed during holidays, inclement weather situations, or emergencies.

  • If no instructor attends classes 20 minutes after classes start, the classes will be canceled for that day.

  • Group Classes with fewer than 3 dancers will be canceled for that day.

  • Private Classes with no dancers in these classes will be canceled for that day.

  • We will contact everyone by email about makeup classes, class cancellations, and studio closings.

 

In-Person Class Attending Policies
  • Dancers must arrive at classes on time or earlier.
  • No dancers can attend dance classes 10 minutes after the classes start.
  • They need to contact us at least 1 hour before classes start if they will be late or need to miss any classes.
  • They can make up dance classes to exclude excessive late attendance or absences from their record.

 

Virtual Class Attending Policies
  • Step 1: Dancers must create a Zoom Account or skip this step if they already have one.
  • Step 2: They download the app from the "Apple Store" or "Google Play" or visit www.zoom.us/signup.
  • Step 3: They click the class link(s) from the "Adult Jazz & Groove Dance Zoom Classes." 
  • Step 4: Dancers type the meeting ID and password to log into the dance classes on their computer.
  • Step 5: If dancers use a mobile phone, they enter the password to log in to the virtual classes.
  • Step 6: They expect to arrive at virtual classes at least 1 hour before classes begin.
  • Step 7: No dancer can attend online classes less than 1 hour before the classes begin.

 

We will post copies of the classes on our website and email them. If anyone has issues logging into the classes, they must contact us at 301-349-6054 or adultjazzandgroovedance@gmail.com.

 

Taking Class Policies
  • Dancers are not required to have a dance background to take hip hop, private, and tap classes.

  • Level 2 and Higher Level Dancers must have a dance background to take higher-level hip hop, private, and tap classes.

  • They must have a ballet background or be taking a ballet class to take jazz classes.

  • Dancers must have a dance background and other requirements to showcase classes.
  • Level 1 Dancers must take level 1 classes before taking level 2 classes.
  • Level 2 Dancers must take level 2 classes and complete level 1 classes before taking 3 classes.
  • Level 3 Dancers must take 3 classes and complete level 1 & 2 classes to get to level 3 classes.
  • Open Level Dancers can take open-level classes and other classes.

 

Dance Class Level and Level Dancer Descriptions
  • Level 1 Classes are beginner-level classes for first-time dancers.
  • Level 2 Classes are Intermediate-level classes for somewhat experienced dancers.
  • Level 3 Classes are advanced-level classes for experienced dancers.
  • Open Level Classes are mixed-level classes for dancers of all levels.
  • Level 1 Dancers are beginner-level dancers.
  • Level 2 Dancers are intermediate-level dancers.
  • Level 3 Dancers are advanced-level dancers.

 

Dress Code or Related Activities Policies
  • Dancers must wear active or dance clothes and shoes for dance classes.

  • Clothes and shoes must have images or words that send a positive message to everyone.

  • They must wear dance or regular sneakers for hip hop classes.

  • Lyrical, private, and showcase classes require dancers to wear non-specific dance shoes.

  • The instructors will discuss the shoes dancers need to wear for lyrical, private, or showcase classes.

  • Dancers must wear tap dance shoes for tap classes.

  • Hair must be away from the face for safety reasons during dance classes.

  • Dancers can wear small jewelry and watches in classes.

  • We recommend that dancers wear contact lenses if they wear eyeglasses regularly.

 

Photo and Video Release Policies
  • We post photos and videos in our printed materials, website, YouTube Channel, and other places.

  • We never publish anyone's information in photos, videos, or other materials without their written consent.
