Adult Jazz & Groove Dance is a micro adult dance organization established in 2023. So, what makes us unique from other dance organizations? Our dance organization focuses on giving everyone a chance to dance in God's and Jesus' way, as well as in their own. So, our mission is to offer dance classes that allow adult dancers to showcase their talents in front of a live audience within a friendly, fun, healthy, safe, supportive, and welcoming community. We envision a dance community where everyone can gain a great experience dancing with us and live their dreams through dancing for many years to come.

Joy Timmons has been a professional dancer and instructor for 40 years. She specializes in creative, hip hop, jazz, lyrical, musical theater, pom, tap, and technique. Joy received her dance training in the arts, education, and entertainment industries, such as at the College of Southern Maryland, Dance Expressions Inc., and Towson University. She holds a master's degree in business administration and education from Ashford University and has a dance teacher certification from the Dance & Gymnastics Organization.

 

She was a member of dance groups, such as the Prince George's Community College Flare Up Dance Team and the Vibe Towson University Dance Troupe. Joy performed with many groups at events like Bowie State University Talent Shows, Dance Expressions Annual Showcases, and Mt. Ennon Baptist Sunday Worship Services. She won 1st and 2nd place awards for hip hop and jazz performances in Accotink Academy Talent Shows in Virginia. Joy and Linda Natoli's Senior Company Dance Team won 2nd place for performing their excellent jazz dance performance at the King's Dominion Dance Competition Festival.

 

Joy taught diverse dance styles, including hip hop and jazz to dancers from all backgrounds in businesses like Encore Baton & Dance Studio, Little Busy Bee Early Learning Center, and YMCA in Maryland. She is excited to teach adult dancers different dance styles at the Adult Jazz & Groove Dance Organization and to dance with everyone, including her future family, at her organization and events in various businesses in many states.
